Fly away with me.

Not yet in operation.
My mum calls it a Ferris Wheel.
Its rightfully the Flyer.
Technically, it is a Ferris Wheel, yar?

Would love to hop on one day.
I think its more impressive
than the Eye.
Well, at least at night, that is.

Oh Pooh..oh so sweet!

“If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day, so I never have to live without you.”

-Winnie the Pooh

That's like so sweet, don't you agree? It speaks of endless devotion by a bear...

Who did Pooh say that to?

Silly Captain Pooh with Reluctant sidekick Piglet and an easily Amused Tigger incur the wrath of Rabbit

My maiden article for ST YouthInk.

I have gotten word that my article has been chosen by the editors of Straits Times for publication in the Straits Times Youthink section.

This article marks my maiden foray into writing for a National Newspaper (this time as an ST YOUTHINK writer; all writers are from 18-28)apart from contributing to the ST Forum on an ad-hoc basis.

Here, faithful readers of my bloggie get to preview it before the rest of Singapore does on Mon, 31 Dec 2007 Straits Times.

My Write-up (unedited)...

Rising income levels have contributed to young people leading more fortunate lives. Has this impacted their ability to be charitable? I think not. A survey by the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre in 2004 revealed that one quarter of the 440,000 active volunteers in Singapore are aged between 15 and 24.

Increasingly, we see large groups of youths being mobilised to do charitable works like the annual Sharity gift box among others. Young people today, are hardly apathetic; in fact, they give their time and effort to various causes.

Giving need not be in monetary terms as how young people of today have shown.

Indeed, their spirit of giving is worth emulating. It is also perpetuated, since; they can be of positive influence to their peers.

P/S: its official, I am a Straits Time YouthInk writer...

Goodbye Benazir...

We remember.

You stood for freedom
Yet, were scorned by many
What do they know?

Your charismas and efferversence
Stood the test of time
Many loved you as well

Woe to those who put you down
Sadness has befallen
The land you so loved
But your spirit lives on

The fight continues
The dawn shall come
Where democracy will
Forever live on

Farewell, my friend...
Democracy shall prevail

You had a heritage that would both give you a sense of destiny and weigh you down.

Yet, you bravely fought for what you truly believed in, and what the rest of us believed in, but would rather take a back seat in...

Your words serve as an inspiration to me:

You said:
"I didn't chose this life, it chose me."
"Born in Pakistan, my life mirrors its turbulence, its tragedies and its triumphs"
"I am not afraid. I am ready to die for my country."

Indeed, you loved your country...for that I respect and salute you, Mdm Benazir.

Flowers from London as a tribute...it was there at the London School of Economics where debates on Democracy first opened my mind to the world around me.

Its Hunting season!

I have been on the prowl this festive season in search of that one thing to a bright future.

A career! Yes, you did not hear wrongly. In fact, I hope to secure a job even before I graduate in the summer of 2008 (June).

I have been very agressive( meow!), in fact, I am hungry! Gotta stay ahead of the pack!

My modus operandi? My killer Resume; trusty and unique, it seeks to capture the hearts and minds of hiring managers.

I believe in the strength and quality of my resume, and that it is able to help yield the fruits of my desire.

My list thus far, and since competition is stiff, I am only revealing a few names...

They all have 3 traits in common: international outlook, leaders in their respective industries and they have excellent reputation; these are qualities I look for when hunting.

UBS
American Express
Bloomberg
Merrill Lynch

BNP Paribas
Deutsche Bank

And I have applied to a variety of positions within the above-mentioned big names in the banking and finance industry; ranging from marketing, financial sales, operations to private banking...

Enough said! Now's the time to hit my books and get good grades; another feather in the hat.

My favourite time of the year.

Christmas day: 25 December 2007

Merry making over great food, and goodies with my extended family....

Glorious food!
Prezzies!

Those are only part of the equation, underpinning the whole Christmas formula is the birth of baby Jesus...

That has been foreshadowed by senseless consumerism...yes, its good to give, in fact, its better to give than to receive. But, the true meaning of Christmas must not be forgotten. Its one of love, peace and joy...

Do have a Blessed Christmas and a smashing new year!

Homecoming: ORD Loh!

Where: Zouk
When: 19 Dec 2007
What: To celebrate end of reservist...2 down 8 to go

It was surreal coming back to Zouk; a place I used to frequent, albeit once in a blue moon during my army days. The last time I stepped into the place was the eve of New Year's Day 2007, hence, it has been quite some time ago.

The place was crowded, however, I still get that special vibe whenever I go to my all time favourite club. Truly, it holds a special place in my heart. The grand ol' dame never dies, she only gets better. Truly inventive; just like Madonna!

I went there with my reservist camp mates; those guys sure know how to hold their liqour. I am purely a social drinker, hence, I would never drink myself crazy, except to attain a certain high so that I could dance to my heart's content. It has always been the music, dancing and company more than anything else for me!

Truly, it was homecoming! ORD Loh!.... it sure feels good knowing that I am having reservist now and my army boy days are over. A case in point is when I saw so many army boys just dancing their heart's out (probably lookin to the day they can say ORD loh!)which, brought back many a fond memory. Finally, I am reliving the moment of freedom once again...

ORD loh!...8 more years to ROD!...Thats when I go into military reserve.

Till then, see you next year, mates!
