Goodbye to a great 2005!
What can i say? It's been a great year, what better way to end the final moments of a great year, then to give you an insight into how great a year it has been for me. Yes! The writing bug bit me, hence, i decided without much ado to revive this ever dormant blog... let's see, its been a good 10 months!!! since, i last blogged! Heck, life's been pretty much on the fast lane for me, since i finished serving our dear motherland.
Ok, i shan't get too long-winded or i might just put people around to sleep. But then, if its gonna be insightful and worth reading, it has to be of reasonable length, rite? hah... i acquiesced...
And so it goes... my life in the last 10 Months......
Lets see... i worked at the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore for about 4 months after ord-ing till just before uni started, and have thereby earned for myself a testimonial for "good performance and conduct" from the organisation...yipee!! now, my resume will henceforth, look nicer *winks* ...more credible!
In the months preceeding uni, i actually took to dragonboating with SAFRA. It was a fun-filled 3 months, totally productive and experential. I even went up to Malaysia for a competition with the team. After 3 months with the team, i decided to join my school team when uni started, ...though no rippling muscles or tanned and taut body as yet (i am not hardcore), i can say my level of fitness has improved tremendously. In fact, i intend to not bulk myself up...i would rather have a trimmed and toned bod...hah... as to looking more like a dragonboater, i have taken to tanning by the pool in between school hours (something, i would never have done in the past, not publicly!)...always, praying for the sun to be at its finest! Heck, my genes does not allow me to get tan, always reverting back to my ol' skin tone in a matter of weeks after a good tan...sigh! I guess i need to still work harder on my fitness...especially water fitness, i get shagged out (fatigued) easily. There is so much to look forward to (in the coming year) after the River regetta, there's the IVP and of course the Prime minister's Cup during the June race '06 (Singapore Dragonboat festival).
I have also started giving tuition to supplement my allowance! Its a pretty rewarding experience i must say... the tuition kid is fine! Lucky me! I will continue to do so in the next academic year.
This year alone, i went to bangkok twice for food and shopping, shopping and food...hah... and i did learn alot more from travelling on my second trip. I grew more streetwise, as i did most of the planning for that particular trip...so if anyone needs to know anything about Bangkok...just give moi a buzz, yar?
Hmm.... school's fine, i have adjusted to it amazingly, i am proud to say i have done pretty well so far...(even though, i was away serving our motherland for 2.5 years), made some really good friends (moi brothers) and basically, life couldn't be better at school...
What next?
Well, i hope to go to summer school in my second year, to the LSE (London School of Economics) that is... and study a module there for about a month! For that, i need to be more prudent with my expenditure, now that i am here! It will cost a cool $5000, just to study in London for a month...woah...
I also hope to do some community service next year, like volunteer my free time at the Singapore Repertory Theatre doing administrative stuff, or be a stage-hand or something.
Yes, i foresee it to be another busy year ahead... well, i like it this way cuz, I learn new things and am also constantly stimulated! Don't wanna sit around not doing anything =)
Undergrad, activist, volunteer, sportsman, tutor, writer....boy, do i love the labels...hah...a social construct?...nah...just a more busy and learned me =)
Ciao 2005...
