Living on the edge
Today, went out with gene, as usual, the exploratory streak in us brought us places we have heard about but never got to visit. Basically, we just walked and explored the sights and sounds around us. Armed with my digi cam, i started snapping away; no holds barred..yar? Really, you can literally see how Singapore transforms from a practically utilitarian atmosphere in the day to one that is so fluid and impermanent. When dusk befalls the city that is when the fun begins. Before i go any further, i would be letting you in on the highlights of our trip to the city.
Met up at the Tanjong Pagar MRT station in the late afternoon, we had planned to visit the URA gallery at the URA building at Maxwell Road. Entering the building, we were pretty awe-struck by the awesomeness of the exhibits. The first exhibit we saw was a model of the CBD and its surroundings, there was a show-case of the new downtown at Marina Bay. Its really a sight to behold, to see the sheer magnitude of the smallness of the little building models carved out of wood. I almost fell in love with the 3 dimensionality of the little models. Well, there was more to come. After that exhibit, we went into a couple of canopy like structures housing a couple of chairs which showcased what Singapore would be like in a few years down the road. The proposed Vivo City at the present day Harbour Front, the new downtown at Marina Bay, the new park connectors among other things, all meterialised right before our very eyes on screen. There, basically was a virtual simulation of the transformation Singapore will undergo in the next few years and beyond. Truly, there was much to look forward to, for now we could only experience such things in simulation, whether all these physically meterialise, remains to be seen. But, such projects like the new downtown at Marina Bay are in the works. You can see detailed architectural plans and models which show, how such a place will look like in the future. Soon after, we made our way to another section. This time we could get a detailed 3 dimension model of the entire Singapore...yes, the whole map of Singapore in 3-D. How cool can it get?!Really... the little models we saw, were really detailed. I even managed to find where i live on the model. Soon, our stomachs began to call, time for dinner..yar? If only i could spend more time there. Till next time...
Anyway, for dinner, we headed to the Burger King's at the International Building at Tanjong Pagar. There we spent time enthusing about the visit to the URA gallery, and about other random stuff; like how we should go to CoCo Latte one of these days, because they have nice thematic nights with good music coupled with a nice, cool uber chic atmosphere unlike any other chill-out places (i've been to). Anyway, after dinner, we hung around the City-hall area doing some window shopping of sorts, before making our way out into the open to places like Clarke Quay, Robertson Quay before heading to our last stop; CoCo Latte at the Gallery Hotel!
Soon, it was time to go...we said our farewells...Till next time, dude!
Random pics of the city will be included for the heck of it...have fun..yar?
