Day 1,2: Modus Operandi

I look awful....thanks to the arid weather in thailand.

There are two weather extremes: hot and sunny in the day just like in Singapore, blistering cold at night at 10 plus degrees.

Apart from the two weather extremes, there is a commonality. The weather there is intensely arid. There is so little moisture in the air that everything is so dry...or dried-up for that matter. My lips weren't spared the severity of the dryness either. Its pretty cracked up that i actually spent the last 2 days in thailand with a dull red skin tone above my upper lip; looking as if i applied lip stick....ewww!

Still, i do not mind the weather there in thailand, the kanchanaburi region where i was, is a three hour drive up north of Bangkok city.

Day 1: 271104

Finally arrived at the famed Singapore Changi Airport after a 40 minute car ride from home in the west.
12:30 am- We were assembled in front of check-in counter 1 for a malaria pill taking regime. Mum and dad and many others witnessed that occasion. Said our goodbyes before going off with xinwei and ernest to see what we could see and do around the airport before boarding the plane.
We belong to flight 2, packet 1 which was to fly at 3:30am in the morning. We had to be in the waiting lounge by 2:30am that means we have about 2 hours to spare. Outside of the departure hall, there was nothing much so we decided to check in at the immigration counter. However, ernest left us to bid farewell to his parents. Hence, it was just xingwei and i. First stop was to the dfs @ changi. There we saw a vast assortment of wines and liquer. However, what caught my attention was a chic looking bottle containing Martell which cost like more than SGD 5000. I surveyed the area and found what lil' bro wanted me to get; a bottle of Vodka Citron. That's good, i would get it when i come back to Singapore.

After that we adjourned to an area that provides free internet usage, but usage time for each passenger is limited to 12 minutes. How funky! We linger on for quite awhile, before xingwei decided that he needed to appease his hunger, hence, off to Macs he went. On my own, i went to Times (used to be WH Smith; before being acquired by the Times management) which was located diagonally below Macs. There i flipped through some periodicals before coming across a book titled;' Murphy's Law'; "where everything that can possibly go wrong, will go wrong." Interesting, i must add.

A law from the book; 'Simpson's Law' is as follows:

I quote: "When one encounters a mistake and goes about rectifying it only to realise
it was correct in the first place."

something to think about, yar?!

Soon, it was about time to go. We bumped into a few others before going into the boarding lounge together.

3:30 am- Plane took off for thailand.
We finally arrived at a military airbase at about 5:30 am. We boarded pretty luxurious looking coaches that took us to base camp.

7:30 am- Arrived at the camp before we were herded off to the cook house for breakfast; comprising of a hot drink and strawberry bun.

The day passes with us doing stores, stores and more stores...nothing really much worth recording, before its off to lala land. Zzzzzz...

Day 2 281104

Yet another day passes with us doing stores. Fatigued set in, but we pressed on for there was canteen break to look forward to once we were done with stores.
