melancholic overtures

Just got back from thailand in the wee hours of this morning, the plane; thai airways TG 8194 touched down at Changi international airport at 3:10 am to be exact. It wasn't a holiday abroad, but still it was a major event in my NS life which just came to an end. Still there were restrictions; so much of empty promises, like; "you are free to roam after you collected your kit-bag; time is all yours." So much of such crap that before landing; instructions were dessemintated telling us to leave the airport one hour after touching down. Not that i have a bone to pick; but really people in idiotland do not have any idea what they are talking about. They have this untoward tendency of mincing their words; forever promising so much only to have the "wonderful" promises snuffed out in a matter of time.

In all honesty, their words carry no weight, just nothing but a whole lot of fluff. I hate to always be so compromising towards such things, even to the extent of being apologetic when i should be ranting my top off in mock exasperation. But really, as time progresses and only after you gotten a grasp of how the system in idiotland works, you will realise in utter despair that it is truly not worth your breath or effort. But it really is nice to bitch about it once in a while to like-minded beings of the thinking kind. Just letting off some steam can do wonders for your health. Idiotland is stifling, a place for the "unthinking" who thrives insidiously feeding off the coffers of my parents and many others.

Yes, things don't change overnight, not to say the very least; the system is skewed or just plainly screwed up. What to expect of an organisation that is seemingly pompous with a lofty set of ideals, but led by people who eschew such ideals for more "down to earth" methods, which might not necessarily be orthodox.

interestingly, i read this at a range (somewhere in the outbacks of Singapore), scribbled on a board in a training shed

i quote: " We are the unfortunates
Led by the unqualified
To do the unnecessary
For the ungreatfuls"

-Anonymous-

This more than sums up my sentiments.

Moral of the story; never expect too much when you are in idiotland, just live day to day simply without fear or favour. Simply put, do what you have to do, do not wayang because people will see you in a different light; albeit a look of disgust that can be frightening when people feel threatened that suddenly you are getting into the pc's good books. Don't even chao keng, people will lose whatever respect they might have of you. The next thing you know, you are given the cold shoulder treatment. Well, honestly i learned things the hard way, how else am i qualified to let you in on all these.

How time flies, summary exercise that is ETAP 2 has concluded. I have cleared the standard obs course and the ippt (silver; never a problem). I can't tell you how good i feel with these things out of the way. Phew! What a relief, i can now ord in peace.

I am in a state of controlled dilirium..i know it drips of irony but what the heck...as it is i am truly, madly, deeply in a state of esctatic convulsion. OK!...enough said, i am still me. Albeit, one with a lighter heart.
